Was reading a book about "natural mysteries", usually fairly up on paranormal or supernatural topics. However, under a section about black dogs it said they were part of the Ley Phenomenon. Now that is a topic I've never heard of. I've heard of Ley Lines...

the Magnetosphere(ley lines) fluctuates in 6 dimentions
some animals are more sensitive to it's touch and react in odd but predictable ways
Whales, birds, and anything tha migrates use it for navigation
Dowsers use them to find things
most of us just look to the norternlights as 'Prety'
you can be traind to view them in people(auras) everything that lives emits a unique field of magnetic force. Sometimes this field can linger giving rise to 'ghost' imagesof the recently dead.
Ley Phenomenon prtains to anything that can see or use these fields to a purpose.

I believe it refers to the entire "ley" mystery, including "ley lines" (the invisible energy lines supposedly criss-crossing the earth), "nexuses" (the points at which the lines cross), "correlations" (where certain ley lines match the positions of the stars, such as the Orion Belt), and so on. It even includes "crop circles", which are said to be highly energised. So, in a nutshell, anything to do with the earth's natural energies and ley lines.

It was named the "ley line phenomena" because there have been so many different theories put forward to try and explain it, but none are totally satisfactory. And no one really knows what they are or where they are or how they correlate to key locations around the world, such as Stonehenge, the Pyramids of Giza, etc., if at all.

Ley lines are based on some mythical strength of energies that lie in a certain line around and upon the earth. In which case, black dogs could also fit into the myth as a strength of energy. It might be as well to keep up on science as you examine such topics as the paranormal. There is so much more that we know and can keep us grounded.

I think it refers to leylines. These are supposed to be lines of special magnetism, psychic/ spiritual properties that run across the UK and the strange things that occur along them.

They were called this because many of them run through places that end with 'ley'. They was supposed to be one near where I lived - some of the places were called Ashley, Mobberley & Alderley Edge.
