Why is it that female models tend to be more popular than male models??

Question

I mean I've heard world class supermodels' names such as Amber Valetta, Heidi Klum, Josie Maran, Cindy Crawford and many more but mention Jon Johnsons' name and people go "Who?"

Probably because both men and women can admire a beautiful woman. Most Men find it very hard to admit that a guy is good looking, or even to judge if a guy is good looking or not.
So 50% of the population (females) can admire both men and women but the other 50% (men) can only admire women. I'd say thats why female models are more well known.

Women want to be them and men like to see pretty women. That's why they are on all those covers and more likely to pitch product, even hunting equipment, blue collar tools and safety equipment. They also have a social scene that the tabloids love. They get into fights, they do heroin and cocaine and stories about weight seem to matter. Male models tend to be generic, have common and sometimes ugly looks, are low key in the social scene and therefore paid far less. Need a buff guy for a photo shoot? Just go to the local gym and pay a guy $100 and presto, you have a male model.

I think because of all the womens magazines. Between the fashion pages, front covers and scandals, they are just in the forefront. There are some great male models, but the women are the most photographed. I guess it is the girlies that want to be models when they are growing up more than the boys!

Because the clothing market is aimed more at women, so there are more female models modelling popular clothing brands, and because of today's media, there is a lot of attention cast on to them.

or to put it simply it might be that male models ain't be promoted as much as female models...

you see female models alot more in the business world..with perfume, lingerie and other stuff. male models dont get as much attention.
