Smile and say "Thank you." Don't try to compliment them back on the shirt or something, unless you truly like it. You aren't obligated to trade compliments.

You should always smile and accept the compliment. Do not feel embarrased or ashamed-- ever. When someone says something nice about you, it's probably true.
Also, do not forget to say thank you and RETURN the compliment. The person who threw you the compliment probably wants one back, so give one back. This will make him/her even happier.
Never ever say "No, Of course not!" or "What are you talking about?" because that is called false modesty. Even when you are denying the compliment, it seems like you are asking for more.
Be proud of who you are, and start listening to what people say!
haha...
hope this helps!

just say aw thankyou but don't follow it up with a negative thing about the compliment like if they say "hey thats a nice dress" don't go "yeah but it's not really the right colour" say" thanks i really like it as well" you won't sound up ureself.
'If compliments are a gift from the giver, than receiving them is an equal gift — it's a return gift to the giver. How a compliment is received can invalidate both the giver and the observation that inspired it.'

Well, just smile and say thanks. But don't feel too proud about it because compliments can sometimes be counterproductive, if you know what I mean. And if you feel that the person's compliment is a bit much you can just try to reflect it back to the person, so they realize it. Like if they say, "You are the smartest person in the world!" then you can say, "You mean after you?"

all I have to tell you is that it's normal. in fact, for most people, some insult are easier to deal with, they don't feel the best, but it's easier to defend your pride, and some people just don't get as many compliments as they deserve, so they aren't used to it. and if you're like me, you have a hard time agreeing because you feel like you're gloating. but don't worry about that. people compliment you because they want you to feel better, so just make them happy by feeling better, and send a compliment thier way ;)

i know, it's so fuking hard!
whenever someone says something nice to me it completely throws me off. what you can do is just return the compliment, like if they say "you have nice eyes" you can tell them "i like YOUR eyes"

Say, "Thank You, I appreciate you telling me that" and mean it. Get over any issues that are keeping you from taking someone's kind words.
