Why did this happen to me?
When I was in the UK, I did experience culture shock to a certain extent because everything is so different over there. Stores, streets, money, automobiles, English, etc...

But when I was in Dubai, my shock level went back to normal. It felt like America.

Why's that? Why is London so much different than America but Dubai isn't? Is Dubai an American creation?

The UK has a history dated back to the Knights of the round table and King Arthur. Dubai is a very modern city with high rising buildings and every thing on a huge scale. How long is the US known as the US? Relatively you are a very young nation and this is why you feel more at home in Dubai.

Perhaps its you.

Why should you be so suprised that other places are "so much different" to where you are from and to what you are familiar with? Isn't that the whole point of travelling ?

If Dubai "feels like America"..why go in the first place?

Dubai tries to imitate America whereas Britain does not

that`s strange, because as an american, when i lived in london, i felt so comfortable...whereas, when i returned to the u.s., i felt like an alien in my own country...it`s hard to explain, i just don`t feel at home in my native country since i`ve returned...i much prefer the u.k.!!!
