I have endometriosis and severe pelvic pain. I am very interested in learning more about these procedures. Do they help with pain. How long is the recovery. Do they help chronic pain or only menstral pain. Any info about these procedures would be very helpful.

I've never had these procedures for my endometriosis but I have talked to other women who have. Both procedures only help certain kinds of pain, meaning that it's in a certain area. Like for example the LUNA is only for midline pain (and my understanding is that this procedure isn't done much anymore).

There are risks to the procedures because nerves are cut, one of them is that they can grow back together (the ends that is) and when that happens it is not always in the correct way.

I would recommend consulting a Pain Management dr who has experience with treating the chronic pain of gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis. I did this myself because of another gynecologic condition I have and although I'm just on oral medications right now it's the best thing I ever did for myself especially when my endo started to act up again just before I had to have my 4th laparoscopy overall to check the status of my endometriosis.

A good place where you can get even more information about endo is at: http://www.endocenter.org. They have an e-list which is found at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc

Let the moderator know that a member of Yahoo Answers referred you to this list to get more info about endo and all the other treatment options out there.
