1st of all, if you want to get the shot trust me its gonna last more longer than you can possibley imagine. Its going to take you at least 15mths-2yrs to get pregnant or for your period to finally start acting right, than you can either be having a cycle monthly but can't get pregnant, or your cycle will stop for good. You see the shot actually stops ovulation in women and thats why most don't see a period at all until its time to get the shot again and somes just vanish. Also when the depo is administered the uterus lining breaks down to a thin layer preventing pregnancy and when the shot is not being taken any more some people uterus lining don't form back thick so ovulation is impossible. The depo is given to you in the hip or upper arm, it works immedialety and you never have to worry about getting pregnant at all. But there are side affects you may indure like; loss of hair(just shedding), weight gain, water retainess, loss of bone dentisy, disapperance of period and some people even bleed for months. So before you decide on the shot talk to your doctor to see if the shot is going to be right for you and most of all there are the chewable birth control tablets they rock, those really work. But... If you really want to have another kid getting the depo out of your system will only happen if you detox your system, GNC sale the product. For a week you take these pills and by the grace of god its finally gone. But just to be on the safe side don't do the shot if you don't want to have a hard time trying to get pregnant when your ready to.

Are you planning to have another baby in 2-3 years? The bad thing about getting the shot is even though it lasts about 3 months you're supposed to be OFF of it for at least a year before trying to conceive and even then it can take a long time. I just know too many people that have had complications years down the road.

I got the depo shot once, and I spotted for a couple of weeks around the time my normal period was due. I doctor said it was normal because it was my first time taking the shot (even though I had been on the pill for a while), and my hormones weren't sorted out yet. After I came off the shot I bled so heavy it scared me, but the doctor said that was normal too, because my hormones were stabalizing, and just put me back on the pill. I will never take the depo shot again!!

I absolutely LOVE Depo! That is the best, and most convenient BC around. The side effects can be annoying (weight gain, loss of period) but getting the shot once every 12 weeks is a great timesaver.

The shot is given in your butt, and they'll alternate sides each time. It doesn't hurt.

be ware of depo! its works for some and for others it is not good. i was on it for a year and it was so convienient but i couldnt loose any weight. i was trying to lose weight and it just wouldnt come off, some women say that it makes you gain lots of weight. I just had a baby in march and i got the IUD. Its AWESOME!!!! it lasts for five years, but you can take it out sooner if you want to. i dont even feel it and the hormone goes straight to your uterus and no where else!! Look into it. its called MIRENA ... im so serious its awesome

the Depo Shot takes your period away and u do gain some weight. But um you only get it every 12 weeks (every 3 months) and it can be in your arm or butt.

When I got mine it was on the upper part of my butt. I didn't like it though because it made me bleed for three months straight, and when my cousin got the shot it made her bleed for five months. So really think about it maybe an IUD (Intrauterine Device) is what you want.

it does not hurt and they gave it to me in the booty.

But let me tell you I have tried all BC and the shot was the worst. I was on my period daily and it made me gain a lot fo weight. The best I ever used was the patch. It made me super skinny and right in all the right places ;). but no sex drive.
