Ring of the Nibelungs (2004) (TV)

The source material for this centuries old story is often assumed to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings, although Tolkien denied this, commenting once: " Both rings were round, and there the resemblance ceases.

Stars Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3 and Painkiller Jane) as Queen Brunnhild and Benno Fürmann (Sineater from 'The Order')

This film is a beautiful legend of true love, hate, betrayal and friendship...and is probably one of the best miniseries to air on the sci fi channel...despite missing an entire hour....cut to fit it into a four hour timeslot.

Sword and sworcery epic at its very best.

Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King (USA) (DVD title) ...that is the america version...but opt for the german version with no scenes cut, and no missing hour. Kristiana has never been better.

if you can find them, there are a couple of old movies called The Magic Sword and The Sword and the Sorcerer.

these are my favorites because they started my real interest in films of this type. they may be a little dated but as i remember, they are both kid safe and fun. get the popcorn and a soda and have fun!
