I have lived in 8 different cities/towns in my lifetime, and I lived in 3 different houses, in different towns with my family before graduating high school, then four years at university in a dorm. After school I moved across the country and lived in a townhouse, then I moved to another city, to a house I shared with 4 other people, then a duplex I shared with two other people, after which I moved to another city and a townhouse I shared with two friends, then a basement suite with my old girfriend, then we moved to a house, then a modular home on a big property out in the country. After that we broke up and I moved back to the city and rented a house by myself... after 3 years I moved to a 3rd floor walk-up... then I moved across country again and currently share a house with my girlfriend/fiance and her son. What about you, schmoo?

In the last 30 years I lived and worked in 32 different countries and about 60 cities or towns. I move every four months. I have one life to live and tries to get the most out off it. Not that I think that there are anything wrong with people that stays in one place and brings up a family. It is just me,I like new places and experiences. The longest I stayed in one city was when I studied at university. Even then I moved to different parts of the city.

I am biased, but recommend Manchester, because I live here and choose to do so over London, where I lived for many years. We have all the advantages of a big city, but with the coast and great countryside not too far away. Birmingham,Liverpool,Leeds, Newcastle, in England ,are all much improved. Remember there is not just England in the UK! You also have the great Scottish cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh too. Brighton is nice and handy for London. London IS fantastic, but very big and very, very expensive. If you lived in a place like Manchester it is only just over two hours by train to the capital. When I moved up, I sold a tiny London flat and bought a three bed family house in a very good area for just a little more! It is all very well wanting to meet a guy, but could you satisfy the requirements of immigration to settle in the UK? It is not easy. You can not just come over and do so.

I was in the Army for 20 years--it would take me a while to count all that up--with off base housing, barracks, temporary housing etc. I have lived in at least 20 cities.
