Probably because they have a lot of pride in their race or that whatever guess it was, that person is racist towards. . .sometimes, I find it amusing

lol! sorry, but that' s quite funny to me. i get asked ALL OF THE TIME, but it doesn't bother me. I think it's a little humorous how some people will wonder and you see it all over their face, but they won't just ask. I don't know why people are so serious these days. They need to lighten up. There are mixtures of all kinds of races and people just want to know. I'm sure that they've asked someone else the EXACT same question. As mixed as I look, I know that I've asked others. Yes, it's probably too much pride, seriousness, or just the wrong approach to asking. Maybe it's the wrong choice of words or wrong timing. Think about it before asking. some people are extremely sensitive...

Depends on the ethnicity but maybe they do not like being thought of in relation to that race. I am not Mexican but people always confuse me for one. I do not like it because when someone walks up to me and says "Como estas amigo!" I do not want to pretend like I know what they are talking about and further the incorrect assumption.
To assume: Makes an @$$ with U and ME

I don't get offended, because I don't care about race. I'm a white American of Italian ancestry. I am occasionally mistaken for Hispanic or Arab, and recently I was mistaken for an Indian (from India). It doesn't bother me, but I think it's funny, because white people often mistake my race, because white people in America have the tendency to be ignorant, particularly about people whose skin is darker than theirs. But I think it's quite amusing that sometimes Hispanics think I am Hispanic, or Indians think I am from India.

It may be because they think negative thoughts about another race. For example, you may think race 1 is stupid, and your race is smart. It may not be true, but in your eyes it's true. If they call you a race 1, then you think they're calling you stupid.

I don't know why this is up for public discussion. It looks like it's just to stir up controversy.

because they probably hate the race you confused them with. there was a Puerto Rican i went to school with, and it pissed him off every time i called him mexican, and thats y i called him it. but some people just want a reason to get mad, it probably doesnt bother them, they just like to think they have a reason to complain. for some reason people like to complain

I try to make a point not to bring up race. I just hate it when people ask "what are you?" "uh...human, i think".
