Actually, this a good question. The answer is 'yes'. Turtles can be the host to several kinds of bacteria that can infect humans, including a couple of seriously dangerous types.
If you have an eye infection, you should consult with your doctor and get some antibiotic. And be sure to keep your pets and their cages clean all the time.

Yes! I know for a fact that turtles often carry dangerous bacteria, including E. coli. However, there is an enzyme in your eye called lysozyme that does seem to have an effect on E. coli (and other bacteria). Your natural defenses against pathogens may take care of it; they may not. Like the above post says, pay attention to what's going on because E. coli and other bacteria can cause severe illness if left untreated.

Yes, Turtles usually have Salmonella in their gut like we (humans and mammals) have E. coli. Those little turtles seen in movies like "My Blue Heaven" are illegal (since 1975) in the US because of the Salmonella. The people breeding them want that restriction reversed due to the availability of antibiotics. here's a source with more details.

Any bacteria that enters your body (via any pathway) can potentially cause harm. Luckily our body's immune system is pretty good at fighting off pathogens, but some still do cause infections.

Yes. Bacteria are very tiny organisms and once inside your eye, they might be harmful. However, your tears can kill them since they can act as an antiseptic.
