So Im going to get to the point. I like playing basketball, playing guitar and reading. However, come to think about it Ive wasted 500+ hours of my life in video games. Theyre so damn adicting.

Video games are the best form of enterrainment no doubt about it. Nothing else is completely interactive and inmersive.

However If Id spent those hours, on my guitar or on my basketball skills, Id be more skills at these activities. One of my favorite games have been basketball simulations and RPG's. However, If I spent less time playing fictionaly in my XBOX, I would be in reality a better basketball player.

Your thoughts?

So, you're finally growing up. Good boy. For myself, I'm not into video games, either. But they do keep the vegetables off the streets so those of us that are somewhat sane can enjoy physical activity and enjoy better health and longer lives. The geeks will self destruct in time. Let them be.

Hmm, maybe try spending more time on your grammar so you can "be more skills at that activity." Just a though.
Back to the point, no, video games are not a waste of time unless you turn them into a waste of time. Basketball and guitar are on the same level as video games, they're fun, but not exactly necessary to your survival. Chances are, no one will come up to you and say "I'll blow your brains out if you can't beat this level." or "I'll cut your throat if you can't play this guitar riff." Video games, like playing instruments, are for your enjoyment. If you spend your life on them, then yeah, they are wastes of time.

It is only a waste of time if you believe it is a waste of time. I am a heavy gamer but I also work and go to college full-time so I don't play as much as I would like. As long as you make sure it doesn't effect your life I say go on and play as long as you remember that life goes on.

Disagree. There are lots of things that we do that would be consider a waste of time, like watching movies or TV, but we do it anyway because we need entertainment time. Playing video games is entertainment time.

A study have shown that video game players have better hand-eye coordination than non-gamers, so arthroscopic surgeons who play video games find it much easier to guide the endoscope through the joints.

hey.....pal.............we all are wasting time in some ways....although we are leading different lives.....there would be nothing wrong with playing video games if only you dont become an addicted........you know ,a friend of mine, spends 6 to 7 hours a day playing them...........!!!!
in this case,I do agree with you.....you know he is very starry-eyed,superficial...and shallow..... .for instance when he kills some soldiers,it is as if he has killed them himself...!
he's going crazy.....
but, once a week.3 of my best friends come to our home,we play fifa07....we really enjoy it.....what is wrong with that?
the point I am trying to make is that you've got to play just enough....!
