Sell what interests you, what makes you happy and enthusiastic, something you've tried and it works well for you, and something you know you can advertise with ease, and something your relatives would like as well.

I've done studies on different things to sell like the rhumba vacuum, cookbooks, candles, making bread and cookies, making perfume, perfume bottles, art work, making soap, making candles, making sausage, selling dried meats, making toys, making quilts, making knit hats, sewing clothes, etc. as well as teaching different subjects (as a service job), but I found the easiest thing to get into if you have the money to advertise is to sell someone else's products (the must be dependable or you need to buy their product in bulk first then sell it). It's best to buy the product from overseas as the cost of labor there is less so if you buy in bulk you should be able to sell those at a little profit. It's best that whatever you sell can go thru the mail first class, or otherwise thru USPS (they pick up from your home) or FedEx. Anything you sell you have to have money for start-up. You need to advertise and reach people so even selling an MLM catalog product would be good. Remember that you need to send out a lot so get postage in bulk. People will buy from you if they know you quicker than they will buy from a stranger. So if you're an outgoing person and are selling in the community you grew up in you have a better chance of making money. In MLM's they teach you first to sell to your family (good idea) so the bigger family you have the better. In some businesses referrals bring in money too (like in real estate) so the nicer you are to people the better the referrals, and you can give discounts for referrals to bring more people in. Overseas people deal a lot as exporters and commission brokers. US needs to sell more overseas but it's difficult to do because of the difference in the value of the currency.

That IS a good question. If I could have sold the ideas I have had for products I would be rich right now. However, it seems like that when I think of a really neat idea, someone else comes out with it before I have the chance to get it all down on paper. About a year ago I thought how cool it would be to have hot/cold cup holders in cars. Wouldn't you know it, they do now! But I do have one up my sleeve yet that I have had for a long time that I haven't seen anywhere. Still waiting on funding for that one. It might be awhile, lol.

Something useful. Find a common problem that most people have, and ask yourself "What remedies are available?" If there are none, or none are effective, put your thinking cap on!
