I saw "The Queen" and thought that Helen Miren was terrific! She deserved the Oscar.

It was a good movie, but it was a dramatization of facts. No one really knows what exactly was said in the privacy of the Royal Household but the movie tried its best to be realistic as possible. If you really want to know what occurred during those days, there are better reported facts in the book The Day Diana Died by Christopher Anderson.
Movies, even so-called "docudramas" don't factually report reality, but take great liberties with facts for dramatic effect. The Prince of Wales and the Queen were both informed about the accident and he immediately wanted things done in an official Royal manner;he was always aware that Diana needed to be treated with respect upon her return to England. He was married to her and knew of her immense popularity;he even repected her and was beginning to understand her.The acrimonious atmosphere had long-disappeared since the divorce and they were friends.William was also quite aware of what was going on;he was never kept in the dark about anything. He insisted that Diana have a public memorial suitable for the mother of a future king.William stood up to the Queen and gave his opinion on what should happen, and much to her credit, she relented.Tony Blair's help was required and he needed no prodding because he agreed with William and Charles.
Harry was very young, and was just able to cope with losing his mother;he let William and his father deal with preparations. The three Wales stuck together at this time to give each other emotional support;they were not going by the principle of the "stiff upper lip" mentality of the older generation, who had lived through some horrendous times(World War II,the abdication) and had been reared to honor duty above personal comforts.
Yes,The Queen was an excellent movie, but young people need to be aware that other sources of information are often needed to get the whole story.Try reading the Anderson book,or Diana:Story of a Princess by Tim Clayton and Phil Craig for a more in-depth look at the very human Royals.

I bought the DVD and Helen was excellent but the husband came off in such a way as to cause me to doubt how he was depicted as anything I ever read about him came no where near bringing him off as such a mean vindictive person at anytime in his life.
It certainly is a movie that did not foster good will for the royal family but it didn't take this movie to know the queen's meanness about princess Dianna-Tony Blair was right in his assessment that the queen better do a lot of fence mending or it could well mean the end of the monarchy!

My favorite part was of course the drama. I did cry, like so many others. It really hit home about young ones and their wanting to try out the world before they settle down to being Jehovah's Witnesses. But there is nothing in the world, it's all lies and hurtful things. In order to be happy they have to have a relationship with Jehovah. Another thing I really focused on was when they were telling about how Jehovah would destroy the evil ones in the earth. Through three things - natural disasters, confusion between the nations so that they would destroy each other, and then whoever was left would have to face the angels. I loved every minute of the convention and wish I could go again!

Yes I loved it but it made me sad when they played Dianas funeral and even after watching it I still have great respect for Queen Elizabeth also I think the actor that played Tony Blair should also of been nominated for an oscar.

It was good. I enjoyed it. It gave a positive glimpse into what the royal family goes through. They are just from a different era and it seems it is difficult for them to get used to this modern world. I thought the characters were well portrayed and in conclusion it was a sad event.

I watched it, I enjoyed it, but I didn't really find it believable at times. It was wonderfully done. Helen Mirren is an extremely talented actor and I do like her work. I did not like the man the had cast as Prince Charles. The man cast as Tony Blair was fantastic, and very similar in looks.
It wasn't something I would care to own, maybe someday I would watch it again.

Of course you're not the only one who saw it. Lol Helen Mirren won an Academy Award for it. I saw a little more than an hour of it at school in my History. It was entertaining. It wasn't the greatest movie ever nor does it make my top 20 favorite movies but it was ok.

They most certainly are human beings. I also liked the movie very much, I think it will help people remember that its been 10 years since we lost our Princess.
