Because the Japenese took well to the sport when it was introduced to their country evidently.

I have to imagine too that the Japenese baseball leagues are also pretty good as far as talent goes. Consider that the players who have come to MLB like Ichiro, Dice-K, Key Igawa, and Kenji Jojima didn't even spend one day in the minor leagues for their respective teams.

i am a sox fan and have heard that the bond between the pitchers and catcher are considered sacred. i have also heard that they practice 364 days a year. I think its cool they love baseball as much as us in the states. Don't forget the big high School Competition for baseball that they have in japan.

No one is sure, but it may have something to do with their training methods. In this country pitchers tend to pamper their arm. Fewer innings pitched, lower ball counts, and arms iced after pitching. Japanese throw more pitches, and so far do not ice their pitching arm after a game. Which is best? Time will tell.

Japan is baseball crazy, and only the best get to come here to play. Their talent is watched carefully by American baseball scouts, and when a good player is found, they are recommended by the scout to the major league team. Such was the case with Dice-K whom the Red Sox signed this year.

Chow!!

I think this question is about why most of the Japanese MLB players are pitchers?

Cost, quality, shortage of pitchers.
