Wow this is a tough one for me because I love all the generations of music.

Best songs and artist yikes....I'm going to have to go with the 70's. There were some wonderful artists that came from that generation not to mention some of the songs that came out during that time.

I was born in 86, I actually probably listen to more music from the 40s through to the 70's but I dont dismiss music from my generation/this generation, there are a few goodies that come out, but most that I find are nit really being played on the radio. Its about looking for the different stuff that's still being made but not so mainstream!

The 60's. There has yet to be a band as artistic as The Doors and a female singer as powerful as Janis Joplin. The music of the 60's really showed what was going on in the world more than any other generation.

Songs from the 30's and 40's. With artists like Sinatra, Jo Stafford, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and a host of others, for me it was the best era of popular music you'll ever see. Just offhand, if you want to see what I mean, click on the below link to see Carly Simon sing an "oldie" called "Time After Time" from that early era. Sure wish they made 'em like that now.
