I wouldn't bother with oil at all. If you beat the car up that much, it's just going to wear out anyway, might as well be sooner rather than later!
But if you insist on lubing the engine, use 10-40, unless you are driving a lot, and I mean steady day-long, on the highway in really hot weather, in which case you can use 20-50.

You can if you want, but when I tried it some years ago, the weather got ahead of me and we had a real cold snap, and my engine was so tight I couldn't even push start it. I was running straight 30W. So stick with the recommended oil weight and you'll be fine.
PS. At the time I was driving between 800-1000 miles a week, and I wasn't losing any time either.

i own a shop ,and if its a high mileage car and still runs good 20-w-50 wont hurt it,i just wouldn't run it in the winter time, but for summer it will be fine,a lot of people switch to that in the summer,it stays with an engine a lot longer, but its not going to hurt anything to use it in it,i have done the same thing on some higher mileage cars ,and it doesn't hurt them, good luck, hope this helps.
