In answer to School1, Hillary is old but not to old to have been in the army, my aunt was in the army and she is over 70. That wouldn't be Hillary's cup of tea, doesn't pay well enough.
As far as I know, none of the clowns mentioned above have ever served this country in any way that counts.
And to all the idiots that say this war is lost, if you think it is, then it is. For some sick reason they want it to be lost.
I think it can be won, anything can with perseverance. Rome wasn't made in a day.

Why the heck would you want military personnel running your country? Or do you intend to be at war forever. I would much rather be governed by peace loving and compassionate people who do not want to see their young people dying for a lost cause. Sorry. You can say you are going to win a war until you are blue in the face but you cannot win something that is already lost.
Please do not take my reply as being pacifistic as I strongly believe in defending my country, if attacked. You only have to look at history to see that when the Allies were attacked prior to WW1 and WW2 they responded in such a way that the outcome was final and decisive. That is when and how to fight a war. Not over some crackpot country that you can't afford to throw everything at but have to move into like a police force to keep the 2 warring factions apart. Doesn't sound a bit like Vietnam and Iraq does it?
Incidentally my father survived the sinking of H.M.S. Repulse, in the Indian Ocean, and helped in the relief of Singapore.
There were no wars during my 12 years in the R.A.F. but if there had been I was obviously available.

I don't believe Bill Clinton had any military experience. Actually some people consider him a draft dodger, because he went overseas to school and never enlisted. Of course Hillary has no military experience - women weren't even in the army during her age period. Barack Obama was not in the military that I know of and I hve no idea about Harry Reid. This is all disturbing.

Felt the need to blow your own horn? Hurrah for you and your commendations! However much you believe in what you're doing...this war can not be won. You are fighting an ideaology and an ideaology can not be defeated as long as even just one "believer" is still alive. Do you honestly believe that 6 months after it's declared "job well done" and come home that this country will not be back like it was? It will be like we were never there. At least over there. Here we will have the graves of soldiers killed to remind us of Bush's Folly. Vietnam veteran here...US Army.

Neither the Clintons nor Obama did. Since I'm not in a situation in which I could theoretically vote for Reid, I don't know specifically of his military background, but I would assess that it is also nonexistent.

And get dirty? Hey, that is like a lot of the neocons that never served that got us there in the first place. But then again, Rove, the VP, and the mass majority of the Bush 'clique' got us into this in the first place, and if we continue to vote for these 'too good to serve' types (democrat or republican), then we will be there a long time, no matter how prepared and trained they are.
Consider too, that there are a lot of Generals wanting us to get out now too.
By the way, thank you for your service.
I am a vet of Desert Storm and OIF II, as a medic. Even though I am against the war, I would still go back if asked to volunteer, but alas, They say I am too old for it now.

Couple of things, soldier:
The massive base closings during the Clinton administration were requested by the military and authorized by the base-closing committee of the Republican Congress. They were inefficient and mainly existed to make local towns happy.
It would sure be nice to know how this war could be won, or how we would know if we won it. You're clearly a good soldier, but you've been badly served by your civilian leadership.
We now have two choices: one is to get out and let the various factions eat each other, and the other is to take over the Iraqi government with our own people and run the place as a colony. You cannot do it halfway, as is evidenced by the slaughter over the last four years.

Why would we slander you for your service? It's not the troops we despise, it's the commander-in-chief.
BY THE WAY!, the commander-in-chief dodged the military by joining, and then abandoning, the Texas National Air Guard. Cheney dodged the military in his own ways as well.
You conveniently forgot to mention that.

I salute you sir for your service to this great country, thank you, as for your question it seems the country is becoming balkanized with socialist liberals on one side and the free market conservatives on the other. Can you say FRANCE!
look at the riots in France this week when a pro- US president was elected. I fear that we are headed down that path shortly, when the next Republican president gets elected the children on the left will take to the streets. They already have taken to the courts twice because they didnt want to accept the results of the last two presidential elections.
The left is hell bent on destroying western civilization and replacing it with anarchy.
