This is a big, big BIG scam. It started with claims that it was from a Montréal hotel but now it cites hotel origins from other Canadian cities. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!!!!!!!!

What Mount Royal Hotel in Ottawa, Ontario? There is one in Banff, Alberta, but not Ottawa. This is the same old scam to get you to pay your $240. Why would a Canadian Tourism Travel Certificate require payment in USD?? How did they get your email?

This smells like a scam. And not very original, there are a lot of scam email going around promising Canadian Hotel jobs.

I also received an offer from a Plaza Hotel in Ottawa, Canada. I have already sent in my application and infor (too bad for me, I know), when I was referred to three different persons, the third one in Spain asking me for 400 Canadian Dollars, to be sent to yet another person.

I got suspicious at this point, and did a web search for Plaza Hotel in Ottawa. And when I found none, I reopened all the email from all the correspondents, checked the long headers and raw source, and extracted the IP from them, after which I ran an IP check to determine the origin of the email.

They use these addresses:

plazahotel@canada.com

can_immigration@consultant.com

CEA@mail2Recruiter.com

They came from a California-Based ISP called VSI.net, and one came from Senegal, and the one supposedly from Spain is from Cogent Communications, also in Los Angeles.

Aside from this, I noticed that most of the letters are grammatically incorrect, and are often written in all caps.

I emailed the one who originally sent me the application form from Plaza Hotel, one Rachie Brian, asking her to authenticate her offer by referring me to an immigration officer at the Canadian Embassy in my country. What I got was a crass remark of me being dishonest and untrustworthy, and mentioned that the offer has been "withdrawn."

As it turned out, the name Rachie Brian has appeared numerous times here in Yahoo! Answers, as well as Plaza Hotel. This is definitely a scam, so be careful of any similar sounding offers.
