im in the 7th grade. my mom treates me like a BABY!i appreciate her concerns and lovingness, but it's WAAAY over the top. she buys my clothes for me, but we go shopping together too. it's a mixture of both. she says,"you buy these or it's nothing", so Im forced to wear her DORKY choices(although SOME of her selections are cute...)...my daily apparel consists of very loose velvet pants, occasional jeans, PLAIN t-shirts and sweatshirts. she won't EVEN let me wear shirts and pants that have a perfect fit-she buys clothes that are 1-2 sizes overlarge for me. I don't grow fast, so I'm still stuck with clothing that i don't like;but i still have to wear them. here is my typical daily outfit for school(everything is VERY loose for me);

Firstly, those velvet pants look cute and comfy (my younger sister has several pairs that she picked out herself, and loves them).
That out of the way, if you really don't like the fit of what you're wearing, find someone who can alter it for you. If you have a friend whose mom can sew, explain the situation and ask if she'll alter just one or two shirts to make them more tailored and to fit your personal style. You can also go to a craft store and find all sorts of things to decorate a plain t-shirt with.
Let your mom see you wearing your new look. She may hit the roof at first (don't know what her temper is like), but eventually she'll have to come around and see how much less you complain and how happy you are to be expressing your individuality.
If that doesn't work, take heart in the fact that you'll soon be of legal age to work and have money that's yours to do with as you please.

Idea # 1
Buy a fashion magazine and cut out some cute yet totally modest outfits. Put them together in a little book and show her some of the things you'd like to try.
Idea #2
Very maturely explain to her that your growing up and becoming a young lady. Tell her you need to dress like one. Tell her there are very many modest fashion role models out their and you'd like to be one.
Idea #3
Have your dad take you shopping
Idea #4
Next time you go shopping invite a few friends (with her permission). Maybe she'll get the hint when she sees what their buying. You could suggest getting a matching outfit with one of them. Just make sure they are girls your mother doesn't see as bad influences.
Idea #5
Explain you want to learn some independence responsibily and earn your own money to buy clothes. She can't really put her thumb down and pick things out for you if its your money. But remember over all you want her blessing so don't fully rebel or her rules will just get stricter.
If all else fails just be thankful image isn't as important until high school and she will probably give in by then.

I am a 51 year old traditional married lady, and i wouldn't wear those in public. Most of them look like pajamas!
1]take a camera to school. Take pictures of some girls in cute outfits that won't horrify your mom. Show them to her in the prescence of your dad.
2] borrow a very flattering outfit from a friend. Model it for mom and dad
3] point out great tops, pants, accessories on other people at church, or mom's friends' daughters, or cousins
4]] the first time you go shopping, make sure you stick to guidelines, so you can go again

you're saying people permit you already know the way especially you're and which you're type eye-catching. it truly is mostly a situation as people can experience a sprint threatened by using it. you're saying you're shy ,the variety you describe your friends i would not see you as being shy . once you become older you will discover the dorky boys are people who've excelled in existence. in case you proceed on with this type of thinking you're able to finally end up without individual who might desire to be classed as a real pal. Friendship is a privledge no longer a appropriate. authentic elegance comes from the character and shines from interior of .. a woman who society might classification as grotesque on the outdoors yet has a character of integrity her elegance shines from interior of and it truly is what attracts people who pick to stick around. . you do no longer seem to have that and it truly is often the reason to your problems . If one knows of the thank you to entertain themselves they in no way go through with boredom. Take care! might the hot 365 days be a sturdy one.

Yikes.
Yeah. Talk to her. But don't get all upset or mad when you talk. Tell her what you said here. Tell her you don't see anyone else at school with similiar clothes and it makes you feel weird. If it helps, pick up a magazine like Seventeen or Teen Vogue and show her that none of those kinds of clothes are in there, so they're out of style.

its the typical mom syndrome. my mom was the same way, but we comprimised and now i can wear whatever i want. once you show your mom that what you wear doesn't affect you personally, she'll eventually give you more freedom when it comes to clothes.
