I agree with Jennifer. I have a 5 month old also and she has been using hers for a month now, she loves it. I have the baby Einstein one and it is really neat. If his feet don't touch flat on the bottom of it then you can put a thin pillow under his feet so he isn't' just hangin there.

They suggest walkers are not great for kids, although they won't do any long lasting harm. The thing is, in a walker the child is learning to lean forward and push with his feet to move forward -- This is not how we walk and he is also not learning proper upright alignment of his body.
I'd suggest sticking with Exersaucers, jumpers, swings, etc... But if you really want a walker, just make sure all stairs are blocked off and he does not have access the he kitchen while you are cooking or bathroom while you are getting ready in morning (with curler, etc.) because those little bodies will get under your feet before you know it!

Actually walkers are a bad idea for babies. Most of the times they tend to impede the mobility of the child. Children tend to simply use the wheels and ride along instead of walking. Your best bet is simply to let them figure out on their own how to get around. It may be a bit, shall we say interesting, but in the end it's better. You do realize that most children don't start walking until about 9 to 10 months. So, I think that you have some time before you need to worry about walking. At around 6 months they can sit up unaided. At around 7 months, they learn about crawling and turn into speedy Gonzales. Once they start walking, they move fast. They're lower to the ground and there's less distance between the brain and the legs, so I'd suggest you use this respite to get into shape for chasing.

I wouldn't recommend it.. Walkers give the child too much mobility before they are ready for it. Some of them can also be very dangerous, especially when used near stairs. Besides, he should be crawling before much longer, pulling up and cruising after that, and walking around a year. A walker is a waste of money since he willl be getting around on his own before you know it.

Never.Get a saucer instead.Walker are too dangerouse.Kids can fall down stairs with them, they first walk on their tiptoes in them and they lean forward in them.My daughter did not like the walker that was given to us for her but she loved the saucer as does my 14 week old son and my daughter was walking at 9 months.

i bought my son a walker when he was 5 months old. he didnt know what to do at first but in a week he was everywhen. i hepled me out alot and he loved it. he also had a jumper and the saucer. my son needed stations to keep him happy while i got house work done. one thing would only keep him busy for about 10 15 mins after he had it for awhile. it didnt harm him in anyway. he just started walking and his only 9 1/2 months. if anything i think it made his legs stonger to help him walk. but i didnt leave him in it all day. i wold let him crawl around and stuff like that. they sell them at toys r us (basic ones for like 30 bucks. they are portable and small)

I do not recomend walkers at all!! first, they can prohibit the normal growth of baby's legs, slow down walking, are unsafe around stairs, and are commonly top heavy. look up how many baby accidents there are each year due to baby walkers. if you want something for your baby to sit up, get one of those chairs for infants. also, get a saucer-- those things are great!

I just got my son a doorway jumper and it is just awesome!!! My son loves it so much and lasts for good 30 minutes, while he only likes the exersaucer for 10 minutes or so. You should try it, hearing their laughts is well worth the money!!!

they do sell walkers but the AAP advises against using them, since they are unsafe and can delay your son with walking. You should ask your ped. I don't think the exersaucers are much better but again, ask your pediatrician about it.
