An A-line skirt is really cute, or if you can find a nice fitting pencil skirt. Try shopping at Torrid.com. It's my fav plus size store cause it's got really cute clothes and the prizes are decent.

1] A-line. Pencil skirt will probably not flatter as well.
2] length should be in the 3" above to 3" below the knee for most
3] make sure it fits perfectly - lined if you can so it falls evenly

something that flares at the bottom or like an A-line. also: something that hits just above the knees, just below the calf, or is full-length.
dark colors are best and AVOID HORIZONTAL STRIPES.

how over weight? if its not too much- just above the knee
if its really really really overweight- about 3 inches below your knee

i would say a little past the knees, with some shape to it, maybe a print
