I am relocating to Los Angeles and I want to be able to get an online map that can show me how far I will be from several key addresses based on where I live. Sorta like you would do with a regular map and put thumbtacks in the map for key locations...i'm sure there is an online program that is similar.

No it's not. The way the world looks doesn't change wherever you are. If you looked at earth from space, and imagine it flat, the UK would be in the middle and Australia in the bottom right where it is on other world maps. EDIT: You can get upside down maps. This is where the Southern Hemisphere is at the top and the Northern Hemisphere at the bottom. Is this what she means? If so, then I guess Australia could be in the middle on an upside down style map

maps.google.com

Enter your to and from and it will give you the directions

Below the directions there will be an option to "Add a destination" (new feature)

Selecting the "Add destination" will give you directions from the address you are driving to and below that it will also show you the destination from your last, you can add multiple destinations and view them on the interactive map
