When most of my constitutional rights were violated I went to the aclu as a last resort. They told me they only cared about creating new rights. When i persisted in showing that my existing rights were violated the president of the new york civil liberties union said, " why dont you just get over it and get on with your life" Would you expect this from a real civil rights organization?

They defend the right of criminals, not those of decent citizens, it's shameful.

Well first of all, it depends on which rights were violated, why they were violated, by whom they were violated, and whether any actual harm was inflicted.

Since your question is so vague, no one can judge whether the ACLU's actions were reasonable.

There's more to your story than you're telling. While that is odd behavior standing alone, it is not odd in many situations. What exactly were the civil rights that were violated? How were they violated?

well, the aclu advertises itself as a civil rights organization, and they have a really strong public relations department (not a lot of people know this). the best thing to do is tell your story as much as you can, and to find people who have similarly abused and make your story public.
