Mint: make sure you restrict it to a pot. Any time you get it in the ground it spreads underground and you can NEVER get rid of it!

Peppers: need a lot of sun and heat.

Onions: best to start them from sets.

Berries: need a lot of room

Tomatoes: make sure you know whether they are determinate or indeterminate; and act from there. Water well while growing and taper off once fruits form.

Mint likes rich waterful soil. It's hard to start but once you get it going, grow it in a pot because it won't stop.
Onions and peppers, I haven't found soil they wn't grow in. Onions like a lot of water because they are a bulb.
The kind of berries will depend on what soil and care you can give. Blackberries and Boysenberries (same thing really) thrive in total neglect. Blueberries and Rasphberries are pretty fussy. Strawberries say they need rich soil with lots of sun but I've gotten them to adapt to anything. All berries need lots of water though. To little water will produce little berries.
Tomatoes need full sun but are fine in any soil that drains well (fireplace ash, potting soil, fine sand). They need full sun and lots of water. Worms will be a huge problem with Tomatoes. To deter cut worms plant them in a base like a dryer vent or a milk jug with the top ad bottom cut off. For Tomato worms, plant marigolds.

Mint ... yes, keep it in a pot or it will spread quite rapidly! Very easy to grow and it is a perennial so it will return next year.
Peppers .... sun, water, nothing special.
Onions.... buy the plants, separate each plant before planting and plant about 2 inches apart. Water, sun and that's about it.
Berries .... sorry, can't help there.
Tomatoes .... Plant deep, you may have to cut off a few of the bottom leaves before planting. Provide cages for them to grow in, give them plenty (full) of sun and keep them watered, but don't drown them. Watch for those huge horned caterpillars. When you see huge munching spots on the green tomatoes start looking for those monsters. They blend in very well with the leaves and they may be hard to spot, but you can just grab them and crush them with a shovel.

i can tell you from personal experience that if you grow mint, keep it in a pot. Mints are extremely aggressive plants, and they can grow from the tiniest root fragment. But other than that, they love water. the original mint was a bog plant, and it's relatives still love water, though they are all sturdy plants.

berries vary also. For example, blackberries grow on a thorned vine that can grow up to 3 inches a day, and that's all i know.

The crops you mentioned require different cultural practices. For peppers and tomatoes, there are good varieties developed in the Philippines that are suitable for higher, cooler elevation and varieties for lower elevation which are resistant to bacterial wilt. For backyard gardening, the said crops can be grown easily, following its culture available in agricultural stores in your area.
