Indian hawthorn Rhaphiolepis indica have oval leaves and dark bluish fruit. The fruit is a pome with a single seed. The flowers are five petaled, like apple blossoms, because this is also a member of the rosaceae family. This is an evergreen shrub. The fruit is edible if cooked.

you didn't eat them, did you!?!?!?!?! it could be deadly nightshade, it matches the description you posted!

but, in the event that it isn't, is it a vine, a shrub, short, tall? do the leaves grow in clumps? your description is very vague...
