Okay, a friend called me from Florida, I live in Canada...am I gonna have to pay long distance? we're both using cell phones...I don't think I have to pay since I didn't call but people tell me I might have to pay roaming charges...I was on the phone with her for pretty long so I'm worried about it...

You pay only for air time. The caller pays the long distance charge (or roaming, if they are away from their home country).

Rest easy!

I don't know how companies in Canada have their cell phone incoming calls charged but in the United States, you would only be charged for the time and not the long distance charges. Try looking on the website for your company to see what their policy is.

Regarding roaming charges, that applies only if you are roaming, which you can tell from the icons on your cell phone. If you were receiving your call in the area that you live in, you would not be roaming and would not be charged for that.

call 611 on your cell phone. that is a free call to your cell phone companies' customer service. They can give you the correct answer better than anyone on the internet.
