Most 4.3L motors have the knock sensor located on the passenger side, into the lower block's coolant drain. It is right above and in front of the starter. I don't know what you are asking here??? You cannot tell the type of vehicle or year of the motor from where the knock sensor is located. You can move the sensor around as all you have to do is run more wire to it. Reword your question and be specific and clear.

First, be sure it is the correct knock sensor. There are some aftermarket ones out that are cheaper, but contains the wrong type of quartz and won't work. If all wiring is good and all sensors are covered (and 43 is knock sensor / circuit) then it is possible that the computer is faulty. Only other question is whether or not you have a basic engine noise that is intermittent. I had that happen in the past and seemed to confuse the computer. Hope this helps and good luck.
