I don't know if they HAVE to know, but it's nice to know.

A local hospital publishes a guide to the dr's who either work for the hospital or have hospital priviledges. It lists where they went to med shcool, where they did their residency, any fellowships, their specialty , office location, phone and hours.
If you're looking for a doctor, it's very handy.

i think if the patients see what school they came from then they know how good the doctors are, say the good ones came from harvard, then they would know. also, the patients want to see proof that the doctor is any good. that's what i think... =]
