See a doctor- back pain is not something with which you want to live. It may be something simple like knots in your muscles...then, a good massage will work. If they're sharp pains, and not just dull aches, see the doctor.

You may have pulled some of the lateral muscles but IF it has gone on that long, you need to see either a doctor or a chiropractor. Best not to take a chance after this long that you seriously damaged something.

In the meantime, apply heat pack for 15 minutes followed by 10 minutes of ice pack, every other hour. You can use Aspercreme an OTC that works as well as those hot or icey hot patches which are good for 8 hours but do NOT use when sleeping.

Since the pain is on one side, you need to have it xrayed. In the meantime do not vacuum, dust, wash floors, etc., and avoid carrying anything over 5 pounds (that is a bag of sugar).

Smart people don't take chances with the back!

Backbends and stretches are tough on the back and any other muscle used. If you are stretching every day, you may be straining your muscles. When you work your muscles, they produce lactic acid when worked too hard. It takes a day or two for a lot of acid to clear up, and it your muscles may hurt a lot after stretching because of it. You need to allow time for your muscles to grow and clear the lactic acid. My right arm killed me for a week after simply playing air hockey with a friend for an hour. Six weeks seems like a long time, however, so either you stretch every day and you're hurting yourself because you're not breaking, so you're really sore, or you maybe pulled a muscle. You should see a chiropractor if you think it's really serious and the shooting pain doesn't go away after resting for a few days. To stop the pain, take painkillers, hot baths and use compresses. I hope I helped you!

Sounds like your injury needs a doctor's attention. You should at least rest your back before doing anymore back bends and take a couple of ibuprofen for the pain.
