I think it is to be an individual, but what do you think?

It's about the individual choices that we make throughout life and the regret that we can not follow both paths to see where both will lead. However, choosing the path least traveled can also be viewed as taking chances. You can either take the same path that other people have taken or you can strike out on your own and create your own path.

You are on the right track. It's more than just being an individual though -- it's about having the confidence and courage to make that difficult choice to do what you feel in your heart is the right thing - even if everyone around you disagrees. That is often a very hard thing to do. Pax - C

I love this poem. Everytime I come across the two different roads, I always think and keep in mind that whatever path I choose, it's for the best. And I can only assume that is has made all the difference.

I've always interpreted it as being about finding the right path for oneself - being courageous enough to take a chance on following dreams, not being afraid to stand up for our beliefs and be who we truly are. We all end up at the same place (ie death!!) but we do so in our own way, as individuals. Hope that makes sense!

Since in the poem, it is declared that there was not all that much difference in the choices, it is more likely to be that satisfaction with choice and pleasure in the experiences of the rest of life.
