I had this exact same procedure done during the C-section birth of my last child, and not only to the tie the tubes and cauterize them (burn the open ends shut), they also usually remove a small length of the tube. At least, that's what was done in my case.

My doctor told me the failure rate was 1 in 300, but nonetheless, to consider it permanent because if I ever changed my mind and wanted a tubal reversal, it would most likely be unsuccessful. (No matter; I don't have the beau coup bucks it would take to reverse that procedure anyway! ha!)

I would say the odds of you getting pregnant w/that procedure are about 0.33 out of 100. Which is really...slim to none. Not impossible, but still very, very unlikely.

there is a very small chance that you could get pregnant, but most likely will not. nothing is ever 100% because of the chance for error. my sister in law says she's gotten pregnant after her tubes were tied, but to me she was just seeking attention. (you have to know her to understand). talk to your obgyn about if you should continue with a low hormone level birth control.

A pregnancy that occurs after a tubal ligation runs the risk of being an ectopic.

The possibility is there though it is remote. That is why you have to sign a waiver to not sue before you have the surgery.
