I just got 2 turtles they are about 2 in. in legnth and I think their snapping turtles because sometimes they snap at me and each other. Heres what I need help with. I don't know how to take care of them (I just have a tank a rock in the tank and a lot of turtle food.) So what do I do when they get bigger, if I can put their tank outside in the daytime, E. Coli, and if they should be together.

If they are this kind of turtle

Then you have alot of work to do and you need to be prepared to spend alot of time and money on these little guys. Do a search for red eared slider care on a search engine. You need to do alot more research next time you get a pet!

If they aren't this kind of turtle, you need to get to a vet or pet store ASAP and find out cause they may not be able to swim!

Oh, and never put a turtle tank outside, they can die from the heat within minutes.

1. You NEED to figure out what kind of turtles these are- the fact they bite is not definitive. The most common small pet turtles is the Red-Ear Slider- which needs a lot different care than a snapper would.

2. A good turtle care site for most species is http://www.austinsturtlepage.com

3. No turtle is happy in a small tank with a rock. They need big spaces with warm, clean water and good lighting.

4. Proper turtle food is a mix of good pellets and other foods.

5. E. coli is not a big deal, Salmonella is, but that is dealt with by cleanliness and handwashing.

6. They can be together if the tank is big enough.

Try the website listed- it is great!

First, ID the turtles.
Get a book. The fact that they "snap" at you does not identify them as snapping turtles.
If you want the turtles to survive, put some effort into it instead of coming here and expecting to be spoonfed answers.
Most of the people posting here don't seem to know anything anyway.

Ok, are these aquatic or land turtles? You should research your species BEFORE you buy them and if you found them in the wild, they need to go back. This is stuff you should have thoguht about before hand being that all turtles get to be the size of a dinner plate.
