I am collecting supplies to make a scrapbook of a trip I took to the States a few summers ago. So far I have paper, pictures, and glue. I am looking at some scrapbook pictures online and they are so beautiful, but I am not very creative. How do I ensure that my scrapbook turns out nice in the end?

Well, I'm the very -ahem- crafty person so I usually LOVE to decorate. I usually put small stickers--you know the ones that have little captions on them and all? Anyway those are nice, I also use some glitter. Oh! And I also use these really nice colored pens to label stuff! Gel pens are the best to use..... Oh, and make sure that the designs are original. So don't copy anybody else's ideas and just make your own!

If you have never made a scrapbook I have the best solution for you. Close to My Heart is a company that sells scrapbooking supplies that all coordinate. All of their paper, inks, and embellishments are designed to go together. They even have stamp sets to match. They have a lot of travel themed ones you would probably like. This makes making a scrapbook so easy because everything matches and you can't mess it up. To make it even more simpler than that, they sells kits that already have layouts done for you with easy to use instructions. You should definately check it out.

Hi, I agree that going to a Srapbooking Store is the place to start! You can find them in the yellow pages of your telephone book. Just look under "Craft Stores" and "Scrapbooking Stores." You might also want to consider joining a beginners scrapbooking group at groups@yahoogroups.com. Go to groups, type in Crafts and hobbies..it will bring up scrapbooks. Type in "beginner scrapbook groups." You'll find several to quite a few..read what they say and join a few. Ask questions of the group..you'll get lots of feedback! Enjoy making your scrapbook, that is the main thing to remember! If you arn't having fun, it isn't worth it! Good Luck and Happy Memories!!

You could go to a scrapbooking shop so that they can help you create your dream scrapbook. And most of them offer classes if you wanted to do more scrapbooking in the future, that way you won't have to keep going back and forth everytime you want to start a new scrapbook. Happy scrapbooking!

Group your pictures by subject or activity. Then think of little cutouts you can make, ribbons and colors that will express that theme. Try to have 2 to 4 pictures per page. You can make little "thought boxes" to use as captions, or just type captions on the computer and cut those out to glue on. You could make your own backgrounds by sketching, for instance shell shapes to go with an ocean theme.

You should take a scrap-booking class. They can be really fun if you go with a friend, and the paper that goes along with the pictures is always cute.
