You could keep him alone in the tank if you wish, but a few peaceful tank mates would be good too. A school of small tetras and a few cory cats would be a great addition to the tank.

You can put a male betta alone in the tank. You can put other non aggressive fish in with it that arent too small. The best place to find out what other fish to put in if you want to is at your pet store. A lot of shops have their tanks labeled as to which fish are aggressive and which are not. If they can't tell you, it is time to find a different store.

you can keep the male by him self. But if you would like more fish you can put like mollies. neon's tetra platies. just don't put aggressive fish like barbs in with him or another male Betta. You could also put African dwarf frogs in with him. These frogs get along with lots of different fish. They only jump to top to get air and right back to the bottom of tank. They are so neat to watch. I have 8 of them in my 29 gallon and there always on the go. Link below is a bit about the frogs. Have fun!!

A 10 gallon is a great size for a Betta. You could put any non aggressive fish with it. For example, Neon Tetra's, platy's, Dwarf Rainbow, swordtails. But remember usually a 1 inch fish per gallon of water.

Your betta would do very well having all that room to himself but there are compatible tankmates that would give you something to look at and keep him company.
Cory cats for the bottom of the tank.
Platies are perfect as they are placid and the betta wouldn't nip them.

You can put two female bettas in there. The male will choose one to mate with, and he'll build the bubble nest and the female will start laying the eggs.

Bettas don't mix well with other fish. Just leave him by himself.
