They are feeling the heat. That is why they are starting to stand up to Bush. They do not want another election to be about the war. They get whatever they deserve if they fail to listen to the people that elected them into office

06 didn't tell us a thing except people need to get out and actually vote. There wasn't enough people to make a message. 19% republicans and 21% of democrats voted in 06!!

That would depend on who they represent. There may be some who can support the President and not be in danger of losing their seat. There are others who would be in danger of losing their seat if they support the President. If things have not started to change in Iraq by this fall, I would bet that enough Republicans will join Democrats to put a deadline on the removal of troops.

I would rather that they stand by their principals and lose, than pander to win. That's what Democrats do. In any case '06 was as much about Republicans spending like drunken Democrats and ignoring or pandering about the border problem than anything to do with Bush. In addition the American people in general don't want to lose (surrender) in Iraq. They want to win and then get out.

If the Democrats have an political smarts (which they've never been strong on) they'll shove Bush so far up the GOPs a*** they'll be lucky if there's 20 of them left in congress in 2009.
Which is exactly what they deserve.

Around September we should begin to see a mass exodus of Republicans away from Bush. After the Summer people start paying closer attention to politics.

Would you risk you neck/job for Bush? Why should any Republican stand behind arguably the worst President in US history?

As long as there are hold-out Republicans that refuse to admit the hypocracy, graft, corruption and incompetence of the Bush administration, there are people who will support them because these people are afraid that changing parties would reflect on their character.
A Con hates change...
