I am an avid camper, and generally feel safe in a campground sleeping in a tent. We have never had bears or whatever when we are camping. We make sure to keep our food in the car at the end of the day though, we don't leave it out in the open.

I love camping in a tent! Of course it's nice to sleep in a camper...but it's all about the experience---you know, the good times with friends "roughing it" I love to go camping. Havent been in a while.

Personally, setting up a tent is a pain in the pot. A camper is like taking your "house" with you. I've always preferred the sleeping bag, you can look into the trees, see the stars. I once went camping with three others, (& their three dogs). This poor hungry old bear came around, & they all stuffed themselves in their car! I just lay there & watched the bear eat up our leftover goodies. I wasn't a threat to him, & he wasn't to me. I feel safe because I don't get scared of every little thing. Sorry, but if people can't "relate," then just stay home!

I like camping in a tent on a hot summer evening. The fly cover is off and you can see the stars. If you have someone you really like you can tell stories about the stars until you fall asleep. If the other person gets scared of the bob cat, you can say the rosary until they fall asleep in your arms. I enjoy camping in a tent.

I don't mind sleeping in tents as long it's a good quality and can withstand normal wet and windy conditions.
Luckily in New Zealand, you can safely put up a tent without fear of poisonous creatures or big bears lurking!
I'm not that confident to trek in the wild and put up a tent by myself. To answer your main question I love camping in tents in general but only safety in numbers.

of course. how many tent break-ins were on last months police report?
Tent, all the way. that's camping. camping should be a challenge.
a camper is your own private motel on wheels...not camping.
(disclaimer)
unless you have a physical disability. then a camper can be quite a challenge itself.

Yes I would. I go camping with a tent, sometimes just the car. Anything to get away.

I used to camp quite often. I was a counselor at a kid's camp when I was in high school.
I would pitch the tent for them, but I would sleep out under the stars. Tents are too confining for me, and I have always felt at home with Mother Nature.
Nice memories! Thanks.

A tent is fine, but don't forget to pitch your "bear bag" containing all your food and anything with a smell that can attract a wild animal high into a tree (away from the tent.)
