I first starting working when I was 15 and in high school (I lived in Brooklyn NY at the time), and I still had to get special paperwork signed to say it was okay for me to work as a minor. My parents signed them, as did my employer. But that was for a W-2 taxed job. If you just want to earn $300 for an iPod you can do "odd jobs" for people like offering to help elderly neighbors with things around their house or with picking up groceries, or you can babysit, or if you live in a suburb, mow lawns, or walk people's pets for them, etc.

I think you are too young. Try doing odd jobs for small mom and pop businesses. Ask them if they need someone to sweep out the place or stack cartons or something.

in your school they should have a work program. go to the school secretary and ask. usually you can get working papers at 13 good luck and it is nice to see someone of your age with work ethic. you may be rich if you put your ambition and drive together
