I've been told that I shouldn't drink soy milk because it increases estrogen levels in the body. Is this really true?

Soy does have an estrogen-like substance in it, but it's no threat to men at all. I know lots of men who are heavy soy users, and not one of them is in any way effeminate. I have heard that the digestive juices in the human stomach convert the estrogen-like substance into something completely safe for either gender.

Centuries of soy use in Asia have shown no negative effects. Soy is often used to replace meat, which IS loaded with hormones given to the animals to make then gain weight quickly. These hormones have little evidence of long-term safety, compared to soy's centuries of safe use.

Studies have shown that consumption of soy milk for men can actually decrease the chances of prostate cancer, but there are still studies being conducted regarding your specific inquiry. None have been conclusive as of yet since the studies are still in progress in Britain. Yes I am a woman, but my dad has prostate cancer and I've read everything I can get my hands on.

Hi,
no one should really drink soy milk, it prevents the body from absorbding essential minerals and has been so over produced and genetically modified it's considered by many holistic health practitioners to be carcinogenic.

have a look at this website it's pretty good at explaining everything

It is said to be true. And it is true that soy milk contains phytoestrogens, so it may cause some estrogen to be in your body. It will take time to take affect, but it definitely is absorbed in the body, though the affect can vary.
