Doomsday scenarios are rather a bleak way to look at life. I assume that someone could drop a bomb and accomplish that, but that would only be in a small region. Short of a cataclysmic event -- like the sun going nova, this is unlikely.

What if we invented technology that would provide shelter for all people? What if we invent technology that ended hunger? What if we invented technology that ended the suffering of illness and disease. What if we invented technology that ended the damage to the environment and the damage of bombs and war.

Cars we could live without. The air would clear, but jobs would be lost. The planet would be more livable, but people's wealth would decline. We would stop devastating this planet, but some of you would have some inconvenience to contend with. Your stock value would drop, but your children wouldn't suffer as much with asthma and bronchitis. You may have to move closer to school or work, but then your parents and grandparents wouldn't have to be hooked up to oxygen machines and respirators.

How about if just ONE modern technology went down? I was in a store recently and the cash register didnt show the item I was buying with the 75% discount. The cashier was at a total loss - she had NO clue how to figure out 75% off 4 dollars!! I had to give her a math lesson. How sad is that? Pax - C

You seem like an intelligent being. In answer to your question some of us would survive with just a little inconvenience, but for most it would create utter CHAOS imagine a day without a cell phone. No problem for me I don't even like telephones.

I'd be pretty lost. And in the dark. And it would be really really quiet.
