Let's talk about the bombing of Dresden. That was close to the end of WW2.
140,000 innocent civilians including women and children died in the bombing and the ensuing fire-storm. War is hell.

The highest number I've seen quoted was 700. It's an unfair comparison though. We in the U.S. had a declared war and competent leadership that time.
