You can learn a lot by taking an online boating safety course.
This will help you understand the rules & regulations as well as safety requirements etc.

Seadoo offers owners manuals online to read for free, they will have a lot of info as well.

http://seadoo.net/ has loads of info as well and features a message boaed for asking & answering Seadoo related questions as well as discussion.

These are boats - so you'll need whatever license is required in your state. In CT, you need to pass the regular water operator's test with a special endorsement. These are really very nasty and dangerous toys.... there are lots of accidents... so be sure to have really good liability insurance coverage... The engines are also noted for short life.... as they are usually run at full throttle and not well maintained..... If you're really interested in boats, you'll get bored with these toys pretty quickly..... so I'd get a motorcycle instead.... at least, that can get you to the mall.. And don't count on getting the chicks, as sea Doos are a solitary adventure. Sort of like getting a cold shower and jacking off in public all at the same time.

Ah....Seadoo does make passenger boats! My neighbor owns one. So, if that is the type of watercraft you are considering as opposed to a jet ski...don't buy one. There are boats that are better built and will hold their value better.
