What famous person, alive or dead, suffered a fall from grace similar to that of Victor Frankensteins in Shelley's novel Frankenstein? How are the two downfalls similar, how are they different? Thanks! I am writing a compare/contrast essay and need a few ideas.

Niccolo Machiavelli.
Always a favorite with teachers. Niccolo was a favored counselor in Florence in 1494 and became good friends with Cesare Borgia, a member of a powerful Italian family. When the Medici regained power, Niccolo was arrested for conspiracy and tortured. He was later pardoned and released. After that time, he wrote several works including The Prince. Years after his death, the works were recognized as some of the best writings on the political maneuvering required to run a nation (in peace or in war).

One word of caution with Machiavelli, know what he wrote about and why or the teacher will bury you!

Frankenstein's monster only wanted his father's love.he was articulate, and strong, and good, until his mind got all warped from rejection, so his creator is the true monster, for creating this creature, like he is some God defying the laws of nature, which are laws for a reason, he did not consider the tragic consequences of his decision to make him and if he did his selfishness won, and last his emotional creulty drove poor frankie baby into becoming the gothic protagonist or to most antagonist antihero

Try Oscar Wilde, or maybe Lord Byron? Byron is interesting because of the scandal in England (involving his wife and half-sister) and his time in Italy and eventually his death in Greece. He also knew Mary Shelley, so that can add an interesting depth to it.

Oscar Wilde is good, because of what happened to him with Lord Alfred Douglas, his prison sentence in Reading Jail, and in the end his death in France :)
