If you want the number of isomers of alkanes, CnH2n+2, there are articles in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Volume 53, page 3077 (1931) and Volume 54, pages 1538 and 2918 (1932). The formulas there give 366,319 for C20H42 and more than 4 billion for C30H62.
