When people ask me what I am I say American because I was born in California. But I usually say American of Mexican descent. Is that wrong to say? I mean its true because both my parents are from Mexico. I'm not Mexcian and American, Im just American.(citizenship wise)

I don't understand why people ask you and there is a problem. Americana's are born even from other countries. If you are insure I do not understand that either. I am Tina Gonzalez, born in L.A. California. A descendant of Gerome, and Rice and Jones also are my descendants. Migrated here for the gold rush back in the early 1900"s, And I am Spanish, American Indian, American. Be proud of what you are and I am just a girl. My great-great-great grandparent are the Billings, they opened the first Los Angeles, California, my day was William Clifton.

If you were born in America you are an AMERICAN and you should be damn well proud of that fact. People need to stop mixing other countries names in with ours. When adding another countries name in front of or with America it is doing nothing but belittling our country. That goes for African Americans as well-if you are an American call yourself American and leave it at that and drop any other label.
