I think it is much easier to answer has bush ever told the truth to the American people. Let me see -
1. "I don't read books".
2. "I don't think much about Usama Bin Laden".
3. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

it all depends on what is meant by a lie in wars it seems people prefer a lie . if bush told people i am going to iraq for oil would they have accepted this as a reason . also bush never said i am doing this so you can drive your cars . no president has ever told anyone this is what oil wars are about or if you want to stop them you can do so by buying a different sort of car and if you want it you will be provided with an electric car . i remember in history textbooks the reason the middle east is so important is it is practically swimming in oil . there was something about an oil crisis in the middle east what was the seventies . well no oil no crisis . there could have been something done then but nothing was as it would have been political suicide to suggest this as an alternitive at the time at least i think it would in spite of all those scientists warnimg people about global warming back then

He told the American public that Iraq had purchased yellowcake uranium for bombs, but it was based upon a letter written by a slimy Italian paid informant who sent the letter to the British. The Italian CIA didn't buy it, but Blair quoted it, Powell, Cheney and Bush quoted it.
The old trick of filtering phony "planted" news from overseas is a CIA trick going way back. Always be careful of news coming from overseas-- especially if it benefits the Neocons.
This time, the CIA didn't plant it, never believed it and told Bush so, and tried to get him to do the right thing, but he lied anyway.

Bush said he would get Osama Bin Laden dead or alive.
He did tell the truth once:
"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --George W. Bush, interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006

Mission Accomplished, remember that anybody? And the supposed link between Saddam Hussein and al-Quada? And WMDs? Bush is a great person, but he has told his fair share of lies such as Clinton, Carter, etc...

He has lied about everything to the American people. He lied to get us into Iraq. He lies to keep us there. Watch Bill Moyer's Journal on PBS this weekend.

He claimed we wouldn't be in the business of world policing, number 1.
Sort of a homage to his father's "read my lips, no new taxes".
It would have been really classic though if Dubya said:
"Read--- My --- Lips, NO World Policing!!"
He said catching Osama was our nation's number 1 priority,
(being the mastermind "terrorist" as it were, of 3000+ citizens on our soil)
and then retracted it and basically stated he didn't know where Osama was and doesn't give much thought to him, he's become too 'marginalized'--
(only 6 months after 9-11).....Bush already had in mind his scheme to make the 'war on terror' into the 'war in Iraq', me thinks.

When he said in early 2003 that there were "no plans to invade Iraq on his desk".
Maybe it wasn't a lie, maybe they were in the drawer or something......
No, that's still a lie.
