If you are making a lot then contact your nearest paper mill to see if they will sell you some. Make sure you get 'wood free' pulp if you want your paper to last (it's made from wood but the lignin has been removed to improve quality and aging).

For smaller quantities you could start from scratch with plant fibres - nettles are good. Newspaper or tissues are easy to tear and blend but do not have much strength. Office papers are difficult to reduce to a pulp - try the thinnest ones you can find - ideally used as it is nice to recycle as well as make something unique.

Cheats from a Craft/Stationery shop - Decoart do pots of paint called Paper Perfect in 8 different colours. You just paint this over a piece of paper to get a handmade look or you can paint a thicker layer on to polythened and peel a sheet off when it has dried. They also supply small packs of decorative things you can add to the sheet.

You can also get ready made Papier Mache (Jovi do one). I think if you thinned it down with water this would work but I don't know what the colour is like as I have always made my own.

Hi, Youcan make your own paper pulp.
All you need is scrap paper without too much ink on it as the ink colours the pulp.
Newspaper makes ahorrible gray paper and is usually recylced many times-
Don't use glass paper as it has a clay surface on it and affects the resulting paper.
add abit of coloured paper to it and it will colour the resulting paper.
have youtried adding anything to the paper??

go to an art store and pick up a tablet of newsprint paper, tear it up in bits and put in the blender, that makes good pulp.

I always just use old paper. You soak it overnight and then blend it with water in a blender.
