I recommend you avoid milk products, they can cause allergies and asthma flare ups.

The best thing you can do for your son is to buy an air purifier and have it in his bedroom running 24 hours a day. This really takes down allergens and can prevent asthma attacks. There are many different brands, buy one of the best. you may want to purchase a second one for the room that he spends a lot of time in besides the bedroom. The bedroom is the most important one.

The first thing that you need to do is speak with the Ped. that diagnosed him to try to determine what is flaring his attacks. You should always keep an inhaler on hand and have one at school for him. My boys present differently than what I have heard about. They only have attacks EVERY once in a while. Theirs is usually when I think that they have a cold. I always take them in thinking that it has turned to pnuemonia, (which, with asthma it can very easily) only to find out that their asthma is flared up. One of my boys has problems with cats and airborne allergies, the other is strickly airborne. You just have to observe and try to figure out what it is that is bothering him. Keep a log of when he has an attack and what he was doing or what he was around. One of my boys cannot be real active if it is very cold or hot as this causes and attack for him. Good Luck!!!

Make sure he isn't really active unless he has an inhaler or he used it before hand. Talk to his doctor about what might cause an asthma attack. Animal fur, pollen, dust, etc can trigger his asthma, my sister has asthma, some of those things set it off. It could be different though. Talk to his doctor and ask all questions.

Shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing...things like that.
If he has been diagnosed with this condition, then the doc that diagnosed him should have given him some medicine...
However, what you can do is to watch out for the shortness of breath and the wheezing.
