Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence. Nothing she told me was true and she got a little impatient when I stayed straight faced and gave very little of my personal history. It's all fake.

Some of them are amazing, and some of are not worth a dime. Thats the hard part. If you would only be able to decifer the good ones from the bad ones it would be great and very enlightning! I remember years ago when I was young and my parents and I would go on vacation up to Chautauqua Lake New York, and up around that region, there was a place called Lilly Dale, where they had nothing but fortune tellers that lived in that little town away from everything else. It was a neat place to visit, and most of them were very good. They now have a book published called "Lilydale". I really dont trust the phone phychics though. Hope you find a good one!

Fortune Tellers can be such crooks! My Grandmother had a friend that went to a fortune teller. The fortune teller asked her does she travel by train etc and other clever questions. Then the Fortune teller told her not to travel by train because she will die on the train. She forgot about this. Then one day on the train she remembered. And jumped out of the train as it started to move and she died. So if she didnt go to a Fortune teller and had this stupid thing told to her she would probably be playing Bingo now.

No. Fortune telling would only work (like time travel) if the future is predetermined and non changeable. Why quantum physics is so confusing is that it proves that a particle can be in multiple locations all at once. Only when it is perceived does it settle for one of those locations. I believe our future works the same way. There are multiple directions our life can go until we by some means perceive it, then anything you do will lead to that event you have perceived (in example: if the time traveller is your son who comes to say hi,it means that whatever you do you will have a son who will get involved in a project involving time travel in the future). So if fortune tellers can really tell our future, I vote not to limit my options, by not having my future told.

Personally, no, but my mother once consulted a fortune teller in Birkenhead Market (just for fun). She was 47 at the time and the fortune teller told her she would have a long life and live until she was 88 (something fortune tellers shouldn't say). She died 6 weeks before her 89th birthday. When she was dying, in hospital, I couldn't bring myself to ask if she remembered the prediction, but I remembered it.
As a Celt I respect psychic forces, but they should not be mis-used.

I have been to one years ago - the problem is, you tend to go to fortune tellers when you are vulnerable and want answers - by using a few clever questions, these people can make you believe anything. Most people who are happy, don't bother with them. I can see the temptation though but, you should take it all with a pinch of salt.

No I have not as I can see them for what they are. Many members of my family have and they believe in them. A local fortune teller even allows video recordings of the sessions. I have watched and listened to these recordings and the 'predictions' are all generic stuff that applies to everyone on the planet. Humans strive for the same type of things with reference to their surroundings and by telling someone something that is totally obvious, for many gullible people, makes it seem true, and this is where the belief starts. It is all hogwash. Look at what Derren Brown did. He gave 12 people in each country, in a number of different countries, a profile of who they were, what their psychological profile was, what their aspirations were, how they were troubled and many other things. All recipients of his judgements gave a minimum of a 75% accuracy and many gave near 100% accuracy. They were ALL given the same text, irrespective of their personal circumstances. Mr Brown does many things, that for a normal intellect, defy reason until comprehensively investigated. The ONLY way that you can 'predict' your future is to force it to happen. Another way is to earn a big income by telling unfocused people what they want to hear.

I had my fortune told, for a laugh, in Hong Kong's night market 12 years ago.
He told me I had had a very sad life, but that the worst was over. He said I had had two husbands(correct!), and that I would meet my third through my job. He said there would be a new baby in my house within the year - at which I thought, well, it won't be mine. I ain't got no man! He also said that my two year old son, who was with me, would be very talented and would earn money from this talent.

Great, I thought. Ten quid wasted.

When I went back to Dublin, my 18 year old daughter told me she was pregnant! A new baby within the year!

Six months later, I met my present partner. He came into the shop where I worked and we just got chatting....

And finally, my lovely son is a gifted artist, and at the tender age of just 15, has already sold some of his work....

Spooky...........

I just had a Tarot Card reading done today by my mentor ... and yes, I believe every word she said. It wasn't all pleasant news but I knew some of it was going to come out because there are some very traumatic events unfolding in my life at the moment. She also confirmed a few things and that brought me comfort.
