I took my truck up to Autozone and the guy hooked the handheld-electronic computer up to it and told me the EGR Flow was off. Well, i was wondering if it's a necessity that i have to have or if i can just drive around with it being that way and not have to replace it.

short term it is OK to drive.
but needs to be fixed.
for long term blocked EGR flow will have an increaseing negative effect on performance and fuel consumption.
with EGR flow many time you cna remove EGR valve and clean it and the passages in the intake to fix the low flow.
you might try that before replacing EGR to correct problem.

All I can say here is you trusted autozone to touch your car? They have those tools so they can sell you parts, thats all they. They cant fix a thing, they have no knowledge and no skill thats why they work there insteed of a real shop. I hear this all the time " the guy at autozone said.... so I bought to 02 sensor and my car has the same problem"
The moral here is you get what you pay for.
