Your profound ignorance is manifested in your question.

You need to do some learning.

The ideological/philosophical opposite of liberalism is of course conservatism.

Conservatism is by definition all about maintaining the status quo be it slavery,Robber Baron slaughter of workers in their plants and mills ,Jim Crow laws,no social security,no medicare,no female equallity,no vote for women , etc etc etc.

Philosophically/ideologically ,liberals have by the word's very definition ,been always at the forefront of changes for good for societies down through the ages.

Left to conservatives,we would be back in the stone age in virtually ever area of human activity.

Now grasshopper, let's take a look at youir inane statement about liberals being laughable regarding freedom.

In every society throughout the ages it has BEEN LIBERALS that have fought sometimes verbally but often violently for freedom/liberty against those who entrenched CONSERVATIVES that wanted NO CHANGE in the status quo as it was only THEY who in fact had freedom and liberty.

Without LIBERALS American society would still be a slave state with no medicare,no social security, lynchings of Blacks all over the place,no vote for women and non-property owners,no women in any position of authority save in the kitchen etc.

That is it.I have spent to much of my valuable liberal time responding to assinine positings of illogical, poorly educated and un-knowledgable conservatives like you.

the 1st modification refers back to the government’s place in faith. assume which you're terrific suited and that it does no longer recommend “freedom from faith.” What precisely could the government’s place be in faith? Can the government tension all and sundry in any given government facility to wish to a particular deity, and if so, which one? Which faith could the government sell? could the government want Protestantism over Catholicism? could the government want monotheism over polytheism? Can the government outlaw atheism and tension somebody to undertake some form of religion? What are you advocating?

I don't see the Republicans preserving freedoms for Americans.

They're more content to destroying them through fear and arrogance, than anything else.

Examples:

Illegal wiretapping

Illegal spying

The Patriot Act

Indefinite detention without representation...

I could go on.

Conservatives insisting the same thing, perhaps...

...no, both claims are about equally laughable.

Of course, both /do/ offer to preserve certain freedoms - in exchange for giving up others, of course - just different freedoms (libs want to preserve your freedom to have an abortion; cons want to preserve your freedom to have a gun). And, it's always the same freedoms each side wants to preserve, yet there are always additional freedoms that need to be compromised to do so...

Not very many things, but if you take a look, for instance, at the question about the President entertaining the Queen, there'd be one. Here's the link:

I find it both amusing and troubling! They couldn't be farther from preserving our freedoms!! PC, a liberal value, takes away our freedom of speech; Gun control takes away our right to bear arms; liberal democrats and their big government ideology that takes away personal responsibility and puts it in the gov. hands, since they think they know what's best for us; and how bout stealing money from successful hardworking people and giving it to the lazy through wealth redistribution; or letting illegals leech off us taxpayers taking away rights and freedoms from citizens!
